The 7th Edition Kickstarter campaign is now closed, and wow, what a ride.
The Call of Cthulhu community really showed their love for the game and pledged in droves, raising a total of $561,836 US dollars. When you think about the fact that Chaosium needed $40,000 to fund a printing of the new 7th Edition rule books, that’s pretty impressive.
The levels of upgrades to the books themselves are fantastic. We’re getting full color, quality paper, enhanced indexes, enhanced scenario maps, sewn bindings on hard covers, printed endpapers, Mythos Tome dust jackets, a new Mythos creature size comparison chart, and new character sheets in both print and editable PDF form.
The non-core book swag is pretty amazing, too. We’re getting all new versions of the hard to find Sandy Petersen’s Guides! Pulp Cthulhu will finally see the light of day! Four different card decks, a new Keeper Screen, even all new adventures. A soundtrack from Chad Fifer! Artwork, mugs, and even free t-shirts, plus a lot of other stuff.
Yeah, it was a successful Kickstarter. Remember, though, it’s going to be a while to start getting in everything from Chaosium. I expect that we’ll be getting deliveries of items from them throughout next year. I’m sure that the rulebooks will be their priority though. While they will not likely be our by this Halloween due to the upgrades, they’ll be worth the wait.
Congratulations to Chaosium, and to all the fans who could be a part of this exciting Kickstarter campaign. And if you couldn’t get in on it now, Chaosium has stated that all the non-KS Exclusive items will be available on the Chaosium web site after the KS backers have received theirs. This goes for the Horror on the Orient Express KS too!]]>
