So I read a bunch since the last update. The standout for me was Nathaniel’s Nutmeg. If you like micro-history, and narrative history as a style, then this is a wonderfully informative book that still has you outraged and hating the Dutch by the end.
The biggest disappointment was Hidden Empire which apparently has like 10 books in the series. Unfortunately, it just felt like a slog to get through it and I was happy it ended.
Quackery: A Brief History of the Worst Ways to Cure Anything by Lydia Kang & Nate Pederson
Horns by Joe Jill
Free-Range Chickens by Simon Rich
Hidden Empire by Kevin J. Anderson
