Solo adventures?

Post by Bootlegger » Sun Mar 15, 2015 7:20 am

Hi, everyone -

As I'm trying to re-familiarize myself with Call of Cthulhu (and roleplaying in general!) I thought I'd try to track down some solo adventures - something that's proving more difficult than I thought it would be.

I just played through the new Alone Against the Flames scenario (which was short but pretty entertaining) and now I'm ready for another one.

To be clear, I'm NOT looking for single-adventurer scenarios with a Keeper, but rather the choose-your-own-adventure-y kinda thing.

Suggestions for stuff that's in print or can be found PDF?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think Chaosium has a couple of solitaire scenarios, Alone Against the Wendigo, and Alone Against the Dark. There may be more, but those were the two that immediately spring to mind. However, they aren't listed in the Chaosium catalouge at the moment, so you might have to dig around for them...

And Pagan Publishing did Alone on Halloween. This one is difficult to find, and expensive should you find it. I have been successful in getting Alone Against the Windego and Alone in the Dark from eBay at fair prices. I also wrote a solo adventure that was published in the free online magazine, Protodimension. In the summer of 2011, Protodimension #9 published my adventure called The Lonely Road.

Other than those, I'm not aware of any other solo adventures.

There is also Grimrock Isle. A supplement I've never been able to find, so I assume it's extremely rare.

In the morning, mist comes up from the sea by the cliffs beyond Kingsport. White and feathery it comes from the deep to its brothers the clouds, full of dreams of dank pastures and caves of leviathan.

This is my white whale. For years this was in a 50% bin at a vendors at the Origins game con. Never picked it up. And when I decided I wanted to...no more. :(

And technically those are illegal copies. Support the authors and buy them.

And yes, I know most (if not all) are not available in PDF. And they are super expensive on eBay/used stores.

They are purchasable through the author or their publisher so that the author gets a cut? I wasn't able to find them anywhere that this is the case, plenty of used ones on ebay..

EDIT: I should add, I don't promote piracy, and I legally purchase everything I have. The money flows like a river to my dismay. I just happened to find them there when google searching. Pretty much the only place I found them. Aside from the one that's currently free of charge on Chaosium.
