Kind of re-inventing the old "dinner party" question, here.
If you could run a horror RPG with any four players, alive or dead, who would they be?
Bonus question: what sort of scenario would you run for them?

Hmm....
The game would be Call of Cthulhu, of course, and the players would be me from different time periods... high school me, Army me, college me, and new father me... that way, maybe the end result would be an accumulation of horror knowledge that would alter present day me to give me a never-ending stream of ideas for Call of Cthulhu scenarios.

A purist COC that would kill all of the players.
1. Jesus Christ
2. Caesar Augustus
3. General Robert E. Lee; and
4. George R.R. Martin
This game would go as long as needed with many breaks. They'd all be chained down and would have to answer all of my questions. Maybe for years.

1. Gary Gygax
2. Robert E. Howard
3. King Diamond
4. Betty Page
I'd run a really pulpy homebrew, all the players play characters on a cruise ship who are shipwrecked on a mysterious King Kong-ish island.

If religion were true, its followers would not try to bludgeon their young into an artificial conformity; but would merely insist on their unbending quest for truth, irrespective of artificial backgrounds or practical consequences.

of the seats, i should want individuals who would appreciate the experience, over individuals already well-involved in the genre. with that in mind, i'd have ambrose bierce, who i suspect would really get into the game; marie curie, who perished slowly in the pursuit of science; colonel percy fawcett, who disappeared whilst exploring the amazon jungle; and hypatia of alexandria, mathematician and philosopher who was brutally murdered by a mob.

1. Umberto Eco, who brings the scholarly erudition and pop-culture sensibility
2. Stephen King, who brings the masterful eye for character
3. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who combines the flair for rational investigation and the open-mindedness for a good paranormal mystery.
4. Fritz Leiber, simply because I think he'd get such a big kick out of it.
In the event of their unavailability, just give me the MUP hosts. Because, well . . . duh.

The only problem with Stephan King is you are going to end up with a head scratcher, 'Huh? Wa?' kind of ending to your campaign.

I'd put a CoC game on for the man himself H. P. Lovecraft, the original private investigative author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the heroine of magical fantasy J. K. Rowling, and to round out the cast of players Edgar Allen Pow.
