FYI For those of you who have Netflix, the 2005 silent film The Call of Cthulhu is available on streaming. I really enjoyed it!

I like what they did with the Call of Cthulhu adaptation, showing the story through the film media that was available during the time Call of Cthulhu was set. It serves to excuse the low budget and add layers of entertainment value.

I quite enjoyed that. It's up there with Dagon, Die, Monster, Die! and The Re-animator as my favorite Lovecraft adaptations.

Fun question.
If you could pick any writer/director and assume they were backed by a staggering budget who would they be, and which story would they adapt? Who would star in what roles?
After seeing Pan's Labyrinth, I would put Guillermo Del Torro in the director's chair of ANY Lovecraftian adaption and have him write with Peter Jackson and James Cameron to tackle the Case of Charles Dexter Ward. For the role of 'ole Chucky Ward... I would want Michael Cera to capture the strange essence of that character.
