This is inspiring me to modify the GURPS magic system to get a bonus from having an artefact that represents the effect you want to cause. The rarer the artefact, the more it helps the spell. That said, I'm not entirely sure what a cube used by some very bad people in a failed attempt to build a nuclear reactor would be good for, doubly so if the failure point of the project was mismanagement. Possibly one hell of a curse to inflict malicious bureaucracy on someone?
