Underwater Observatory Mysteriously Missing!

A 1,500 pound automated underwater observatory suddenly disappeared last month, leaving just the shredded data cable for divers to find.

They say it was too big for a marine animal to have moved - but that depends on how big an animal you are talking about, or how many in concert.

Alternately, what activities would the observatory's sensors have picked up if it had been left in place. Kiel is a strategically inportant choke-point connecting the Baltic and North Seas.
