A Probing Question: Hentai and Call of Cthulhu

Hey folks,

Has anyone ever run a 'Hentai' inspired Call of Cthulhu game?

I'm thinking about running something for my sick, bunch of pervo friends (just kidding). Hell, I can only imagine how something like this would go over at a convention.

Anyway, I really don't know much about 'hentai' (honestly).

Is hentai just cartoon porn or tentacley stuff?

Is there any that would be required viewing for this project?

Remember this is pure research on my part.

I used to know a Japanimation Porn Freak back in the day, but I've jettisoned him from my life.

I know nothing about hentai, but what about viewing Akira to mine it for its setting and technology. And then using that as a canvas, infuse it with Mythos horrors.

I have the Secrets of Japan book, I think there's info on this subject in it.

But, it's out on loan right now, which I think is what triggered this idea in the first place.

Anyway, I used to be a big Japanimation geek...back then it was called that, instead of Anime. I'm talking 80's, bootlegs, read along printed English dialogue instead of dubbing or subtitles and so on. Then when it started going mainstream I lost interest.

Akira though would definitely make a good crossover. I actually did a D20 Call of Cthulhu, high powered Akira/Resident Evil/Parasite Eve inspired game at one point. It burned bright and then fizzled. I got bored with it.

As far as my hentai idea, I'm thinking more supernatural sex farce than hard sci fi.

Possible titles: Arkham Charm School Ninjas, MU Ghost Academy Frat Girls or Dunwitchery: The 3 Witches.

Hentai roughly translates to "perversion" and covers a wide variety of media. If you want study up for an 80's-era hentai scenario, I'd suggest checking out La Blue Girl (tentacle porn parody) or Urotsukidoji (darker supernatural stuff).

I watched a few clips...didn't give me too much to go on plotwise.

But I am planning on doing a short, these are the 7e rules, tune-up session. Something quick, something full of action, something with major sanity loss.

This kind of adventure might just be what I need to 'shock!' my players out of the 6e comfort zone. I think the Sailor Moon outfits might give me away though.
