Chaosium Inc. places great priority on ensuring the confidentiality of our customers' information.
As many of you know, there is a recently-disclosed internet security vulnerability named the Heartbleed Bug. Our server hosts immediately instituted a patch to block this vulnerability.
We are also taking this opportunity to work on upgrading the catalog software on our server—in advance of some major spring and summer releases. In the near future you will find our site down for a short time. Databases that have been in operation for some time have occasional need to get unkinked and refreshed, and we like to keep our software up-to-date.
As a matter of policy and as our preference, Chaosium does not store any credit card information on our site or in your account. We use a separate service, CRE Secure, to process credit cards and paypal payments.
However, from what we understand of the Heartbleed Bug, it is possible that hackers on susceptible systems might be able to access even encrypted information. As always, it is good policy to change your passwords for all accounts from time to time.
Do NOT change your passwords on chaosium.com now; the work we are doing might make it a pointless exercise. When the new site is up, we will send you an announcement email alerting you to that fact, and to remind you to change your passwords.
