Ok I just skimmed the whole thread and don't think I saw anyone mention Helix. That show is Fricking awesome. End discussion. The second season is about to come out and I highly recommend checking out season 1.

Surprisingly no-one has mentioned Justified. So I will correct that oversight.
Season 2 is particularly great (but you need to see the first season, obviously).

I quite liked Helix, and hope season 2 keeps up the momentum. However, it is annoying that a Canadian-made show was unable to cast Inuit actors in any of the Inuk character roles, especially considering how important they are to the plot and setting. Meegwun Fairbrother is Ojibwe, but that's still pretty far removed...Mahaffa wrote:Ok I just skimmed the whole thread and don't think I saw anyone mention Helix. That show is Fricking awesome. I put this question out to four networks and these are the three shows that got the most votes: Broadchurch, Helix and Pinky Binders. Note that some of the older shows mentioned I have seen. Thanks for the input, people.

My vote is still out for Hellix. I watched the two hour pilot.
Pinky Binders is great when you want some British love.
Surprisingly I am also enjoying BLUE BLOODS. Didn't expect that. Very strong characters plus I have a soft spot for a couple of the actors.

I didn't start to officially watch the MAGNUM P.I. episodes until 2004. They hold up surprisingly well in humor and story structure. Probably my favorite series from that decade but I have only watched a fraction on DVD.
Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg (Mark Wahlberg's brother and best known for playing Sgt/LT Lipton in BAND OF BROTHERS) make the show more appealing. And, from what I can tell it's doing quite well as it's on its fifth season and most shows don't make it past the third or second. The mayor played a gangster in BOARDWALK EMPIRE, I believe.

I'm just a little bit into Boardwalk Empire now for the first time, and loving it. It's great to see some good period 20s stuff that covers a range of social classes. It also piques my interest in the gangster angle for Cthulhu a little more than before. I have previously found that gangster+Cthulhu devolves quickly into just spraying things with bullets, but the good writing on the show helps me see how a game could focus more on the political machinations and slow-drip drama. Punctuated by occasional sprays of bullets, of course.

Nucky 'Goo Goo Googley eyes' Thompson of the Innsmouth Thompson's.
In my game's modern world, Innsmouth is a tourist trap with a boardwalk...it boomed in the 70's with an infusion of cash and has been 'floundering' since the big economic crashes of the 90's and post 9-11.
My tv flavor of the month is re-watching Archer. I still need to see last season....

If religion were true, its followers would not try to bludgeon their young into an artificial conformity; but would merely insist on their unbending quest for truth, irrespective of artificial backgrounds or practical consequences.
