Call of Cthulhu 7 Edition Poll on YSDC
Hi
Just to say that we've put up a poll on YSDC for people to vote for the type of format and style of the 7th edition rulebook - please pop over and cast a vote. The poll is in the Market Square section of the forums.
Thanks
Mike

Yes Mike, thanks.I've put my 2 cents worth in,interesting the results so far-we want a hardback edition with colour interior in the style of the French rulebook. I'm curious now as to what the French edition looks like.
Steve Highfield in the Call of Cthulhu "No Man's Land" scenario. Fenton Beanland in the Call of Cthulhu "The Inheritor " scenario.

Hugh, here's a pic of a two-page spread from the monster section of the French edition core rulebook for CoC.

The French style is well worth imitating.
My fluency in both of Canada's official languages has stood me in good stead as it has allowed me to pick up the amazing stuff Sans-Detour has put out these last few years and actually put it to good use (I can read it! and use the handouts!).
Sadly, I do not have a copy of the limited edition Beyond the Mountains of Madness. But if you want to drool, there's a thread over at YSDC which causes envy in all who don't own that treasure.

I wish Chaosium would up the ante and get away from the dated black and white soft covers and go with a hardbound, glossy edition like the French version and Trail of Cthulhu.
Chaosium's artwork back in the day was the envy of the industry...remember the fold out full color centerfolds?

Yeah...this is likely why Chaosium's art is so hit and miss:fallingtower wrote:I wish Chaosium would up the ante and get away from the dated black and white soft covers and go with a hardbound, glossy edition like the French version and Trail of Cthulhu.

"Our standard rates are:
Thumbnail Portraits (1.5"x2.5") = $10
Quarter Page Illustrations (3.125"x4") = $15
Half Page Illustrations (6.5"x4") = $30
Full Page Illustrations (6.5"x9.4") = $50"
That's about 50% (sometimes less) than what an artist gets from independent publishers (start-ups and one-man teams), so they aren't going to get a lot of people clamouring to work on their books, aside from people new to the industry perhaps. Sans Detour, on the other hand...
