few other tabletop games to look at

One recently found & fell in love with myself, A Touch of Evil by Flying Frog Productions. They also do a high pulp adventure game called Fortune & Glory too which seems high in story & adventure. With Touch of Evil, if you think of the gameplay slightly simplified from Arkham Horror/Eldritch Horror (no sanity) & running around an 1800s small American town getting overrun with a particular menace, but is the town already corrupt & worth saving? What's interesting about the game is that the elders of the town you can interact & get help from with fighting the villain (like a vampire, werewolf, headless horseman, etc.), but there's a chance that from the secrets deck they will be actually working for the villain.

Compared to Arkham & Eldritch, one interesting thing with Touch of Evil is that there are rules for a basic play, advanced (core rules are for competitive monster hunting), but also rules for cooperative monster hunting group as well as a mix of them where you have teams mixing both the competitive & cooperative rules. Similar to the mythos cards in the Eldritch/Arkham games, there is a mystery deck at the end of the players turn which will add to things going bad in the town where a minion could show up on the map, some innocent town folk is murdered, town elders go crazy or more things that can be bad for the players. A countdown timer is going on where if the players don't solve the mystery soon, the town will just descend in darkness and everyone will lose to the villain.

Many big & a few small small expansions (both retail & some free download expansions of new villains) are out there for this & why I like the support they have done for it. Plus all the heroes have some well crafted miniatures for their use in the game. The real sticking points with the game that some might be not too fond of, one is that with the cards, there is a bit of gloss on them so you might do like I did to sleeve them as they tend to stick out of the box. Other thing is similar to other recent Flying Frog games is how they use photos for art. So they look like they are having a lot of fun for making the photos but some people I know aren't too fond of that artistic choice.

Another thing that Flying Frog did recently (have yet to try it but have a friend that has it), which is a weird west game similar to the Deadlands game but for this board game it is a dungeon crawl called Shadows of Brimstone. A bit high price but lots of miniatures means it could be quite entertaining.

Another recent one that popped up recently, Cthulhu Realms. Seen it in the store but haven't tried it yet.

I've been wanting to try to get the first Shadows of Brimstone, but I have so many other tabletop games we don't play already. Can't justify it.

I love Flying Frog. While I have A Touch of Evil, I have been unable to get it to the table. However, their zombie game Last Night on Earth, is awesome. I'm trying to get Fortune and Glory too, but its OOP and pricey.

Nice to hear about Shadows of Brimstone - I'll have to try and find that.
