The second playthru I've listened to and the second time that the group have decided not to help out the young couple. They just seem destined to die!

I think as a group you have to be really, really altruistic to want to help. If she would just accept the help offered initially, that'd be one thing. But since she will always refuse and insist on staying for the funeral, there's just no strong enough plot reason to waste any more time with them.

Yeah I think it just doesn't have a strong enough hook. If my current group is anything to go by I reckon altruism is a much forgotten thing, one PC who is playing a member of the clergy (himself training to be a member of the clergy!) had to be convinced by other players to save a small child who was surrounded by vicious dogs ("I think he'd just slow me down" "But the kid might die!" "I might die!")! From a listener's point of view I'm just really interested to find out whats meant to happen!

Yeah. And Ms. Wagner would have liked to stay but she is a pragmatist. High percentage of Faschist encounter..... Or comfortable train to the next town. Easy choice for her

The PCs have a strong goal in their minds, this sounds more like a distraction to them, adding that from the outside it does not look like a matter of life and death that the couple cannot deal with ( the father Ferrero advised them to pray, maybe they didn't ).
