Welcome KeeperAntUK!! I'm glad Keeper Dan was able to help you with the technical difficulties. Glad to see you here.

With 36+ years of gaming, you must have a huge gaming history. Besides Call of Cthulhu, (starting with 2nd edition), what other games have you enjoyed?

Many thanks for the warm welcome.

Like most old timers, I cut my teeth on Basic/Expert D&D then moved onto Advanced. Traveller was the sci-fi game of choice back then for me. We also played Tunnels and Trolls, Runequest, Villains and Vigilantes, Bushido, Rolemaster and The Morrow Project amongst others.

Aftermath and Call of Cthulhu were both mainstays after that, followed by games like Paranoia, Dragon Warriors andTwilight 2000. Traveller remained popular with my friends.

In more recent years Call of Cthulhu and Traveller have been constants along with Dead of Night but system has become far less important to us and story and atmosphere have become paramount. We have a few systems of our own design we often use for games in 'non-specific' environments.

We attend a couple of multi-day cons every year, including one specialising in Indie games, so we've all played a lot of different systems over the years. There can't be many system types that I haven't had a bash at!

For me, I want my games to have good stories, characters, atmosphere and fun (beer also plays its part), and the system to intrude as little as possible.

Our regular group consists of at least 4 of us over 40, some nearer 50, a couple in their 30's and our group baby who is 28!

As I said before, I'm currently running a Laundry campaign which, as a former British Civil Servant, I find to be frighteningly accurate ;)

You should definitely give it a go ... I love the atmosphere it can create. I think it's a bit like original Cthulhu brought to the contemporary world. A bit less 'full on' than Delta Green ..

A bunch of Arseholes is missing a member, so we are running Laundry Files this afternoon. Wish me luck!

May your laundry come out clean and spot-free of Cthulhu Mythos residue.
In the morning, mist comes up from the sea by the cliffs beyond Kingsport. White and feathery it comes from the deep to its brothers the clouds, full of dreams of dank pastures and caves of leviathan.

Hopefully it will. I'm not sure about this into scenario from the book, but we'll give it a go.

Hope it's fun!

It will be interesting to see if the environment works as well for you guys, or if it's a Brit thing.

I think it'll work if you know the novels.

Hi, everyone! I was an avid RPG player and game master (D&D, CoC, a bunch of the Palladium games) waaaaay back in the 80's and 90's, but haven't really played since. Life, as they say, happens. More recently I've been happy to come back to gaming through boardgames, including the Arkham Horror series, which has rekindled my interest in once more picking up Call of Cthulhu. It was a nice surprise to stumble across the MU podcast and I've been devouring the back-log of episodes. This is just what I need for re-entry into the world of mythos role-playing. I'm excited to pick up tips and get to know this community as I prepare to run my first game in about twenty years!
