Ghouls of the Miskatonic: Book 1 of The Dark Waters Trilogy

Post by Keeper Jon » Mon Aug 13, 2012 4:07 am

So I've started a new book, and it's called Ghouls of the Miskatonic, by Graham McNeill. This is one of the books in Fantasy Flight's new line of novels. And, as the subject of this topic says, this is also the first book in a trilogy.

I'm still in the first act, so I'm still being introduced to characters as the big mystery is beginning to unfold, but I gotta tell ya, this is a really good book so far. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not completely floored by it... yet... it's just that the author has done an excellent job of pulling me into the story in only a couple of brief chapters. Any reader familiar with Lovecraft's work, but more specifically with Fantasy Flight's "Arkham Horror" line of games, will love this book.

Here's a little tid-bit:
The story is just getting started, and we've already encountered some Mi-go! And as far as I can tell, they aren't even the Big Bad in the story.

I'll discuss it in greater detail once I finish it.

Wow, let me get this straight. You're reading a book > based on a board game > based on a role playing game > based on short stories.

Life is just weird...

Rip Wheeler in the Call of Cthulhu "No Man's Land" scenario

Well... when you put it that way, it makes the little cuts I keep making on my arms and legs make much more sense! :cthulhu1:

Those have nothing to do with your book. Those are the number of times you've seen The Silence.
Don't bother asking... You wouldn't remember anyway. :ugeek:

I read the first and second books in the series and the first was good but I found the second even better.

Great author though so hopefully no worries on the third instalment!
