Real Scroll with Spells

Post by Grotonomus » Tue Sep 29, 2015 5:19 am

Just a shot in the dark here everyone. What do you think the San loss would be from this little gift from Nyarlathotep? 1d100/60?? http://www.history.com/news/4000-year-o ... ript-found

"Among the illustrations on the scroll are sections of an early Egyptian funerary text or “coffin text,” known as “The Book of Two Ways,” which served as spiritual map of the underworld, with up to 100 different spells to aide the departed in the afterlife, protect them from supernatural beings and help ensure eternal life. The manuscript also features several drawings that have not been seen previously on any other known monuments."

I would probably go with 1/1d4 after they read it.

Presumably the artifact wouldn't actually give investigators access to nearly that many spells in-game, yes? I'd imagine that, hidden amidst the general wash of esoteric ritual and mystical symbolism might be several operable spells. In that case I'd make SAN loss commensurate with the number and relative potency of the viable enchantments contained within the scroll. Just my 2 cents, for what it's worth.
