Yes, Fear Itself is on my list of must-try horror games as well. Seems like a horror film emulator -- maybe akin to the old Chill game, in its aims? The Risk Factors mechanic sort of sounds like Drives. You have played it, Trevlix?

Both games are run on the Gumshoe engine. I've heard Fear Itself referred to as Gumshoe-lite, but I think that's only because the Mythos stuff is not in Fear Itself. I really like Fear Itself too, and I hope to master that form of Gumshoe before diving into Trail of Cthulhu.trevlix wrote:Since we're mentioning Gumshoe, I'll also throw in Fear Itself. Modern day horror that is really good. Basically (IMO) Trail without the mythos stuff, although I have not done a comparision between the two yet to see how much is really different.
I've been doing a bunch of GUMSHOE lately. In addition to being a player in Eternal Lies, I've run playtests of both Trail and Fear Itself scenarios last summer. I'm up for running something in either of these systems if there is some interest.
Not a hack!

This I will have to pin on the hour of the morning, though I am ashamed to not have mentioned something as obvious as the Exogorth. There's also the Midgard Serpent angle that we missed too.Nvision wrote:For those who are looking, Netflix Canada has The Burrowers available for streaming, so if you've got access to a VPN you can change your region and stream it.
I'm disappointed that there was no mention of the Exogorth from Empire Strikes Back... Dholes in Spaaaaaace!
On another topic, I now have my hard copy of Mythos Expeditions. The first scenario in it is an expedition to Mongolia lead by a certain Roy Chapman Andrews, and the Death Worm is in fact mentioned. So, yeah. There ya go.

I was supposed to be in a game EddyPo was running, but just as it started I dumped a huge mug of coffee on my laptop which caused me to have to drop out.Dr. Gerard wrote:Yes, Fear Itself is on my list of must-try horror games as well. I'd love to run Fear Itself (the new scenario they published looks great) or be in a game.
Here's a decent podcast talking about the GUMSHOE system. Worth a listen.

Are you talking about Seventh Circle? Do you have that one Trevlix? That's one I'm thinking about running, but I don't have it yet. The description sounds great.trevlix wrote: I'd love to run Fear Itself (the new scenario they published looks great) or be in a game.

Yes. Haven't gotten it yet. Toying with the idea though. I suspect as soon as I see it in a store it will be mine.
