This episode is missing both Jon and Chad, so Murph and Dan brought in a ringer! We have returning guest Brian Sammons back to talk about movies, gaming, & ENnies.
We start off the Campus Crier with news that the City of Providence is naming an intersection after HPL.

Necronomicon schedule released
Ars Necronomica
the art gallery for the con is announced.

We had an E-mail from Matt reminding us of the movie The Resurrected. It's an adaptation of The Strange Case of Charles Dexter Ward and is quite good.

Jennifer e-mailed us about our episode 21 "Pulp up the Volume". She noticed that we didn't include any stories from writer Larry Correia. She highly recommends his Monster Hunter International series.

Then Nathan wrote to tell us about SHADOW BOUND, a five episode black-and-white silent horror web series in the vein of H.P. Lovecraft and the iconic silent horror films from the 1920s.

We also played a speakpipe voicemail from Alex, composer/producer of the Cthulhu Soundscape currently on Kickstarter.
The ENnie nominations have been announced! And... we're not one of them.

Murph has a very favorable review of a Mythos story collection that Brian has edited, Cthulhu Unbound 3.

We touch on some of Brian’s favorite Mythos movies, as well as talk about how to take a non-Mythos movie and make it into a scenario.

Listening to this now. First let me apologize to everyone for my crappy audio. I don’t know what was going on, it sounded fine to me when I was recording it, but it sounds like hell on here. Again, so sorry to everyone for that.

Now, as a weird coincidence, a FB buddy just hipped me to this: yet another Colour out of Space movie is coming. That’s movie number 5 for this single HPL story if I’m not wrong. This one is being done by the director of cult favorites Hardware and Dust Devil. You can check out the trailer here: http://vimeo.com/70666054 The official website is here: http://www.thecolouroutofspace.com/

Hey guys,

Just finished listening to episode 36. Great fun and very interesting as always. Its excellent not knowing where the episode is going to go everytime within its loose structure.

Its given me a whole stack of new movies to look into as well which is an added bonus. Though my wife didn't look too keen at this :)

Loved the non-Mythos chat as well!

Sambo is a cool dude, I met him a long time ago (I live in the same area). I wish I would've kept in touch with him, but at the time my wife's health spiraled out of control and I had to leave the Lovecraft/gaming scene for 5 or so years.

About the whole Cthulhu Golden Age I actually started a poll on Yog Sog a while back on the subject.

Here's another Lovecraftian-ish movie...The Beast Within, which features a little inter species lovin' and some putrid teenage skin blemishes. There are two Curwen's and a Dexter Ward character in the movie.

Another wicked good show. :cthulhu2:

Fallingtower, is your name Kevin, by chance? That was at the Michigan Mythos Militia Meeting, right? If so then I remember you. Ah good times, good times. :cthulhu1:

Yeah that was me.

Soon after that meet up things started going very bad for me and I had to disappear. It was a great meeting of the mythosian minds...You, Badger, William Jones and his wife-plus 6 or 7 more.

I was actually going to work on a MMM (Michigan Mythos Militia) website and try to get an actual organization organized...but my wife (who was bi-polar) started spiralling out of control (drugs, mental breakdowns and eventually suicide) and real life horrors took over. Real life horror, kind of makes fantasy ones not so enjoyable, ya know. I was a complete mess for 5 years or so.

But...

Now-
I'm trying to get back into gaming after a stint in the SCA beating folks with rattan...but getting older and injuries ended that.

Most of my old Cthulhu Crew is gone now...I only have 1 solid player and a few that game but not Cthulhu.

Stay Cool.

Man I am sorry to hear that. You have my condolences even if they're late. I'm happy to hear you're coming back to the game and I wish you well in your hunt for a CoC group. You need to take those non-Cthulhuheads and convert them. Just repeat to them; "join us...join us...join us."

A second on Larry Correia's Monster Hunter stuff. Right up there with Bureau 13 (and a little more gritty and modern).

Great show as always!

I have something to admit. I've never seen Angel Heart. Part of the reason, despite hearing that its an excellent movie, is that I know what the twist is. To me, this makes it not worth watching. Should I still see it? Is there more to it than the twist?

Absolutely! It's a stellar movie even if you go in knowing the ending. In fact I figured it out about half way in, and I'm not usually one for seeing those twist endings coming, but it's not that much of a curveball if you're paying attention - still enjoyable even knowing what's in store. If you'd like a neo-noir that looks fantastic, has solid performances and great script to boot, I'd highly recommend it.
