Re: King Tutankhamen
It will be 90 yrs on Saturday, Feb. 16th that Howard Carter entered the tomb of King Tut http://africanencounters.blogspot.com/2012/02/16-february-1923-carter-opens-tomb-of.html. Does anybody know if there are any written Cthulhu scenarios set in Egypt on the subject(or similar) for a possible anni...

Re: MU Podcast 022 – Survival Tips for Players
I was looking over the T.O.M.E. material on yog-sothoth.com and looking at the PDF fragment "Unpleasantness At The Diogenes Club" I spotted that the charcater sheet for this 1890s adventure by John A. Diaper (which predated the release of Cthulhu By Gaslight ) included two unusual entries: a set of ...

Re: MU Podcast 022 – Survival Tips for Players
One thing about CoC discourages well-thought-out characters: characters tend not to be playable too long (either through death or insanity), which can dampen the enthusiasm of players who normally spend a lot of time fleshing out their character. On the other hand, though, the game often takes plac...

Re: MU Podcast 022 – Survival Tips for Players
I think the main reason that connections failed was due to how easy it could have been abused. I agree that in theory it was a good idea, but only during character creation. In gameplay it was abused comically. The only way I know of inter-linking characters with each other and the setting properly...

Re: MU Podcast 022 – Survival Tips for Players
Another great podcast, they keep getting better and better. It was interesting that Connections didn't work. My general feeling about the suggested changes is that they are mechanical changes to address narrative issues, but of all of them Connection was the one which potentially solved a problem I'...

Re: MUP 20 - Bumps in the Night With A.S.G.
Do you have any good recommendations for non-fic about the publishing side of pulp lit? Dude, I wish you had a podcast. You've caught me a bit on the hop, there. I'm not sure there's a single definitive book. I've just picked up information from all sorts of sources over the years. I would recommen...

Re: MUP 20 - Bumps in the Night With A.S.G.
I think, to be fair, that ASG's main point in bringing up de Camp was actually to say that Derleth gets flack for being a bad foster parent for Lovecraft's work, but at least he didn't butcher the fiction like de Camp did to REH. I thought he was pretty harsh on de Camp, deservedly. I hadn't known ...

Re: MUP 20 - Bumps in the Night With A.S.G.
A great discussion with Adam Scott Glancy. Much of what he said was familiar and rang true to me. While I've never been a big Delta Green player (although I brought the books) Pagan have always produced intelligent and thought-provoking games. He did get one thing definitely wrong though: L. Sprague...

Re: MUP 19- Smooth or Pulpy?
An interesting discussion. The Stephen King point is something I noticed reading M. R. James -- that you need to establish normality before you can effectively subvert it with the Supernatural. I'm generally in agreement: if the Supernatural intervenes all the time, then the world becomes like that ...

Side Topic: Special Collections Then, down in the moldering basement of the Orne Library's Special Collections, we find a copy of the Book of Dzyan, a text that Theosophical movement founder Helana Blavatsky claimed she’d read in Tibet. Lovecraft mentioned this book in only two of his stories, The ...
