Re: Scenario Writing
I'd recommend using a well-regarded scenario book as a model. Pagan Publishing does first-rate work so picking up a copy of their recent Bumps in the Night book, or Mysteries of Mesoamerica , would serve two purposes: either book would provide 4-5 fun scenarios to play through, and you could use the...

Re: What are you reading?
Captain Vorpatril's Alliance, by Lois McMaster Bujold. Run, don't walk, to a bookstore to get all of her books. She's an astonishingly good writer.

Re: New to CoC
I agree with what everyone said, but let me throw out that you may want to consider a non-DG modern game. Playing a modern game will allow everyone to be familiar with the time period, etc. and will allow you to take everyday, modern people and put them into the Lovecraftian situations. With DG and...

Re: New to CoC
I'll put in another vote for playing 6th Edition Call of Cthulhu in the 20s, set in Arkham or nearby. You might indeed find that you resonate more with modern-era Delta Green, or Gaslight. But I support starting with Lovecraft's own era. If you like the literature, you're already a long way to unde...

Re: New to CoC
I highly recommend Delta Green. It uses the BRP rules system and is a phenomenal sourcebook full of information for modern Call of Cthulhu role-playing.

Re: MUP 23 - Do You Like Movies About Gladiators?
Way back in the day GURPS had a surprisingly good sourcebook titled Imperial Rome, as I recall. Would still be worth picking up if only as a supplement and for its good, if slightly dated, bibliography.

Re: MUP 20 - Bumps in the Night With A.S.G.
Yup, mea culpa. Sorry about that, I was trying to do it in an interesting way, but I missed about 25% of the cursing anyway in my haste. A question: for the first part of the show, I used a quiet die-roll effect for the bleeping, and then gunfire and explosions in the second part. Were they both ju...

I'm a new listener, having finally journeyed over here from the waystation that is Yog-Sothoth. Like others in this thread have said before me, I can listen to ASG by the hour; consequently, this episode was a real treat. I will definitely examine previous episodes and I'm sure I'll find much of val...
