Re: Useful Non-Cthulhu RPG books
Good call on Ravenloft. I think you could use alot of the stuff from Masque of the Red Death in a gaslight game. The problem I find with Masque of the Red Death is they cover the obvious stuff, like Dracula, Jack the Ripper and Frankenstien, but CoC (particularly Gaslight), has already detailed the...

Re: MU Podcast 042 - Eldritch Inklings
DeBill is an excellent writer, and I'm glad to have found his stories. Do you know if he's still alive? The last story of his I can date is about a decade old and I can't find any more information about him. I'm pretty sure he's still alive. He trailed off writing though the second half of the 1980...

Re: MU Podcast 042 - Eldritch Inklings
I haven't actually decided if the Mlandoth Myth Cycle is related to the Mythos or not yet. It definetly has ties to it, and DeBill was obviously influenced by Lovecraft's mythos. I'll reserve saying more until I finish the anthology (about half-way through). An interesting issue in its own right. I...

Re: MU Podcast 042 - Eldritch Inklings
Another fine show, with good forum replies, but I just want to comment. I think at least part of what trevlix was asking how to develop a seed into a full adventure, particularly how to get over blocks in developing the ieda. So, great post fox01313, but we need to go a bit further. The phrase that ...

As an aside, people looking for a good Robert E. Howard biography should definitely try Blood and Thunder by Mark Finn. Well, it looks like this is a rare out-of-print book, but a used paperback edition isn't too horrible. I'll be ordering this someday soon. Sorry, it went out of print around the t...

Re: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen characters in CoC?
Of existing material, "The Eyes of the Blind" in Sacraments of Evil (sadly out of print) features a certain Devil Doctor and his organisation which connects up with the first League comicbook story. If you can find a copy it might be a place to start? You might be able to make something of the first...

Re: Mythos non scenarios?
Gaslight stuff should be fairly easy to develop. It was a golden age of mystery and detective fiction. The Gaslight campaign I just ran included a scenerio based on an episode of the TV series Sargeant Cork -- which have been release on DVD in the UK, but other stuff includes The Rivals of Sherlock ...

Re: MU Podcast 036 – Sammons and Celluloid
I'm going to put in a case for the movie "Let's Scare Jessica To Death" (1971). It's been described as a mix of "Carnival of Souls" and "Night of the Living Dead". It's a slow, cheap mood piece, but if you're in the right frame of mind then it's very effective. The plot is that Jessica has just got ...

Re: King Kong Cthulhu
Seeing a Yeti, or Kong, and dying or being scared would be horror, and seeing them and wanting to capture or kill them would be pulp. (?)Right? Do Keepers have to often keep players in the "Horror" mindset as opposed to the "Pulp" mindset? Or is it all in the character? Indiana Jones would be Pulp,...

Re: Scenario Writing
I think you have a sound setting, and the PCMR gives you a set of pre-gereated player characters for a one-shot. Personally I'd go for a fog bank to cut the island off, it reduces visibility so allows for spooky encounters when travelling from building to building, it's easy to loose track of where ...
