Re: How to you make a creepy atmosphere in your games?

In my experience, it's important to offer your players contrast. Let them feel what it's like in a happy environment where everything's okay. It sets a benchmark and really sells the depravity they later find themselves drowning in. I always try to start my games on a high note. When I ran a version...

Re: What Stories Scared You As a Kid?

I got these at a book fair in 3rd grade: http://spinoff.comicbookresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/scary-stories-to-tell-in-the-dark-covers.jpg Lots of excellent stories and the art in them is truly the stuff of nightmares. I read my copies into pulp, so I need to get another set for my daugh...

Re: Luck of the Draw - Scenario notes and game report

The deck of cards and dealer's button I used for the poker game. I picked these up in a kickstarter from Albino Dragon last year I too backed this Kickstarter. I was too late for the green backs, but I got two red ones. My sister then got me a third set for Christmas, lol. There's a lot of excellen...

Re: The End of the World

I've done this. Or something very similar. A friend of mine ran an "All Flesh Must be Eaten" game where we all played ourselves and the opening scene was us sitting down to play a game of "All Flesh Must be Eaten" where we play ourselves... It was a blast! I will say that if you've never done it bef...

Re: Your ideas for show topics

I'm currently listening to back episodes of the Happy Jacks RPG Podcast and a very interesting debate arose concerning the power of persuasion. The situation that was being discussed involved a player who wanted to roll his persuade skill to convince another player to do something they did not want ...

Re: How Do Bat-Crap Insane Cultists Hold Down a Day Job?

Insanity takes many forms. High functioning sociopaths are rather mad, but you'll rarely sense their illness in a casual setting. An individual obsessed with bringing about the apocalypse would likely seem perfectly normal if encountered at the supermarket. Insane, mentally ill, or SAN 0 does not im...

Re: R.I.P. Robin Williams

So sorry to hear that fallingtower, it's always devastating when someone decides they can't handle life anymore. My condolences.

I always pictured Robin Williams as the perfect Randal Flagg should they ever adapt King's Dark Tower series. So sad to see him go.
