To be honest, the best Campbell stories aren't in Cold Print, just his most Lovecraftian ones. It's got to be "The Music of Erich Zann" for me. For something a bit more controversial, I have a weird soft spot for "Polaris" just something about the imagery and the ending repetition there. I guess I find it easy to get past the Esquimaux racism is easier to get past because it isn't brought up ...

Another good resource for Japanese folklore inspired ideas: Kwaidan by Lafcadio Hearn (conveniently in the public domain, link is to Project Gutenberg entry.

Fate is good for everything. For fantasy specific options, I've heard good things about Dungeon World and like the system from non-Dungeon versions, and for D&D-like things 13th Age actually looks good to me, with character creation helping to enforce roleplaying a bit. But there are 2 fantasy games...
